Visiting Vice President Charles Cook was named as this year's Parade Marshall—an honor which caught him completely by sur­prise. "I am, astounded, overwhelmed," he exclaimed after learning the good news. Cook, donned in a Blue Devils shirt, thought his role in the parade was to be limited to helping things start off smoothly, but his part was quickly magnified. "This is such an unexpected honor," he added, while riding atop the Parade Mar­shall's car, "But I've always been a devil at heart."
