When Seaborne wrote of me in 1957 that I "should prove a worthy recruit to a great and growing dominion", I hope that he is now looking down and ready to rewrite my report card. To add to my Loughborough College Diploma I graduated with an honours BA in English from the University of Toronto in 1964 (the Latin should further impress him but I am not sure where Toronto would rank on his staff list) and a BEd. in 1966. |

The growing dominion aspect was proven when by 1973
I was appointed Principal of St.Andrew's Junior High School (purple shirt
centre) in Toronto. I retired 10 years later after 32 years in education
plus 3 in the Royal Navy.

I have written much on education, particularly on
the snobbery of academia and was honoured to be included in the 1979 volume
of New Canadian Quotations by Colombo. At least Seaborne turned
a simple wooden bowl.
